  • When can I start an English course?
We offer English programmes throughout the year. You can start at any time depending on the type of programme you are interested in and the availability of your preferred instructor. For more information, please contact us through the chatbot.
  • Is there a registration deadline for online courses?
No, you can register for our courses at any time and start your classes as soon as possible.
  • How long are your one-on-one English classes?
The classes are generally 50 minutes long. However, that is negotiable. Back to back double, or even triple, sessions may also be booked if the instructor's schedule allows it.
  • What day/time are the English lessons?
Classes generally run from 9am to 8pm CET on weekdays and from 10am to 5pm CET on weekends. However, we are flexible, so if you fall outside of that range, please speak to our team.
  • What should I do first: schedule a consultation or fill out the contact form?
First, you need to sign up for a consultation with us here. In this session, we will assess your language proficiency, learn about your goals, and plan your English learning path. After the consultation, we will ask you to fill out a contact form with your name, email address, phone number, CEFR language proficiency level, preferred programme, date, time, and preferred instructor. This sequence ensures that we understand your needs and language skills before enrolling you in classes.
  • What happens after I have booked a class?
Once you have booked a class with SpeakSpark, you will receive a confirmation email with all the details of your class. We'll also send you a reminder email 24 hours prior to the start of your class. In the event that you need assistance or have any questions, our customer service team is available to help.
  • Will I have to do homework?
The answer depends on how quickly you want to achieve your goals. While our online English classes are designed to help you improve your language skills, doing homework is essential to reinforce them. The thing is, when you do tasks on your own, you will inevitably encounter various difficulties and questions, which will encourage you to seek answers and develop analytical thinking. This approach to learning contributes to a more qualitative and profound mastery of the language. Additionally, thanks to homework, your immersion in the language significantly increases. The more systematically and regularly you do your homework, the faster your language skills develop, and the more accelerated and stable your progress becomes.
  • Do you offer intensive courses?
Yes, we do! Our intensive 2-week English course is a popular option for customers who want to make rapid progress in a short amount of time. Whether you're preparing to move abroad, studying for an exam, or simply looking to improve your English, our dedicated instructor will work with you to design a program that meets your specific needs. Contact us for more information.
  • Can I join a mini-group English course?
If you would like to study English with a friend or family member whose level is the same as yours, we can accommodate. We do not, however, organise group courses at the moment. In the near future, we do hope to offer speaking clubs. To express your interest in participating in those, please leave us a message through our chatbot, indicating your level.
  • How do I register my company employees for your classes?
Here is a step-by-step guide for registering company employees for individual online courses in corporate English at SpeakSpark. You will need to fill out the contact form, indicating the name of your company, the number of people you want to enrol, and the preferred schedule for classes. Our team will contact you to discuss the details and prepare a customised proposal tailored to the needs and budget of your company. Once you accept our proposal, we will proceed to formalise a contract for the provision of educational services and request that you complete registration forms for your employees.
  • Do I receive a certificate at the end of the online programme?
Yes, whether you complete one of our language courses or attend one of our masterclasses, we want you to not only leave with a sense of accomplishment but also have a tangible reminder of your success. Therefore, after successfully completing the SpeakSpark online program, you will receive a digital certificate of course completion.
  • What are CEFR levels?
CEFR stands for Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. It is an internationally recognised standard for assessing language proficiency in non-native speakers. It consists of six levels that measure language proficiency from A1 (Beginner) to C2 (Proficiency). SpeakSpark uses the CEFR levels to track student progress and ensure our students are learning the right language skills at the right level. You can learn more about CEFR and the correspondence of IELTS and TOEFL scores to CEFR levels and Cambridge English exams here.
  • What English levels do you teach?
At SpeakSpark, we offer courses for students of all levels of English. Our courses range from beginner to advanced, and we also offer specialised courses for professionals, international students, those preparing for the TOEFL or IELTS exam, and teachers. Our expert instructors customise each lesson to meet the needs of each student, ensuring they progress in their language skills at a comfortable pace, no matter what their level of proficiency may be.
  • How accurate are generic online English level tests?
In our opinion, generic online English proficiency tests can be useful for an initial assessment. However, these tests are not always accurate and should not be relied upon for a comprehensive evaluation of language skills. For the most accurate analysis, we recommend scheduling a consultation with us here.
  • What should I do if I don’t know my level of English?
If you're unsure of your English level, don't worry! We strongly recommend that all our potential students have a consultation before starting their program. This consultation allows us to accurately determine your current language level and tailor the program to your specific needs and goals. Whether you've taken an online test or have a subjective perception of your level, our consultation ensures we choose the right starting point for your learning journey.
  • Can I take a generic online English level test instead of a consultation?
No, SpeakSpark requires a consultation to understand your current English level and create a personalised program that fits your individual needs. Taking a generic online English level test would not provide the same level of detail and accuracy.
  • How long does it take to progress to the next CEFR level?
Typically, it takes from 6 to 9 months to move to the next CEFR level. However, we understand that everyone learns at their own pace, so it's impossible to give an exact prediction. That said, our experienced instructors will monitor your progress closely. With regular practice and dedication, you can expect to move up to the next level within a reasonable time frame.
  • How long is an English course?
At SpeakSpark, our English courses are designed to be flexible and tailored to each student’s individual needs and goals. Therefore, the length of an English course will depend on the student’s level and desired outcome. Typically, our courses range from 6 to 8 months, with sessions held either on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. However, we also offer full-time, long-term courses. For more information, please contact us to discuss the best option for you.
  • How many English classes a week should I have to make progress?
Each student has their own needs when it comes to learning English. We recommend that students attend classes two to four times a week to make steady and consistent progress. If you have a busy schedule, we offer flexible class times.
  • I am a professional but I want to improve my overall English. Which programme is better for me: General English or English for Professionals?
If you are looking to improve your overall English, including speaking, listening, reading, and writing, then our General English programme would be a great fit for you. However, if you need English more in a professional context, such as business meetings, presentations, negotiations, or networking, then our English for Professionals programme is a better choice. It focuses on developing effective communication skills in English at work. Ultimately, the choice between General English and English for Professionals depends on your specific goals and needs.
  • Are there any prerequisites for your English for Professionals programme?
No, there are no specific prerequisites for our English for Professionals programme. However, we recommend that students have at least an intermediate level of English proficiency before taking this course. Our programme is designed to help professionals improve their English skills in a business context, so a basic understanding of business terminology and concepts would be helpful. Additionally, students should be motivated to improve their English skills and willing to put in the necessary time and effort to succeed.
  • How is your Professional English programme different from your English for Professional Communication programme?
While both programmes focus on improving English language skills in the workplace, our Professional English programme is more generalised and suited for individuals seeking to improve their overall proficiency in English. Our English for Professional Communication programme, on the other hand, is customised for corporate clients who require specialised training to enhance their communication skills within their professional settings. We work closely with businesses to understand their communication challenges and develop customised training programmes that address their specific needs.
  • Is there any difference between English for Professionals and English for Teachers?
Yes, there is a significant difference between our language training programmes for professionals and teachers. English for Professionals is designed to help individuals who are working or planning to work in a professional environment where English is the primary language of communication. This course focuses on specific industry-related vocabulary, business etiquette and communication skills that are relevant to the workplace, such as negotiation skills or professional writing. On the other hand, English for Teachers is geared towards individuals who are teaching or planning to teach English as a second language. This course emphasises the development of language skills that are relevant to the classroom, such as teaching vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation. It is designed to enhance language proficiency for classroom instruction, including lesson planning, classroom management, student engagement, and teaching techniques and strategies.
  • Do you offer job placement assistance for those who have successfully completed your English for Teachers course?
At SpeakSpark, we do not offer job placement services. However, we provide our students with the necessary skills to enhance their teaching careers and increase their chances of finding employment. Graduates of our program will receive a certificate of completion, which they can add to their resumes to showcase their expertise and training. But as for the rest, we encourage our students to network and seek employment opportunities on their own.
  • Is there a minimum CEFR level requirement for your English for Professional Communication programme?
Yes, we require a minimum CEFR level of B1 (Intermediate) for our English for Professional Communication programme. This is to ensure that our students have a strong foundation in English language skills and can fully benefit from the programme. However, we also offer courses and programmes for students at all levels of English proficiency, so feel free to contact us to discuss your needs and goals.
  • What's the difference between Academic English and Exam Preparation?
The main difference between the "English for Academic Purposes" (EAP) and "English Exam Preparation" (EEP) programmes lies in their objectives. EAP helps students to study successfully in an academic environment, especially in English-speaking higher education institutions, while EEP prepares them for specific standardised English language exams, such as IELTS, TOEFL iBT, Cambridge English, and others. EAP teaches skills in reading academic texts, writing research papers and reports, and oral presentation of scientific research, while EEP focuses on students mastering strategies and techniques such as reading, listening, writing, and speaking skills, as well as knowledge of grammar and vocabulary required to achieve high scores on exams.
  • How long is your English for Exam Preparation course?
The duration of our English for Exam Preparation course varies depending on the exam you are preparing for and your level of English proficiency. We offer courses for exams such as TOEFL, IELTS, and Cambridge exams. Our course lengths can range from 4 weeks to 12 weeks, with classes held 2-3 times a week. The course covers all aspects of the exam, including reading, writing, listening, and speaking, and uses various resources such as practice tests, sample questions, and mock exams. By the end of the programme, you will have the skills and confidence you need to succeed on your English language exam.
  • I want to defend my Master's thesis in English. Is it something you can help me with?
Yes! At SpeakSpark, we offer professional English language services to help you prepare for your Master's thesis defense. Our team of experts can assist you with proofreading and editing to ensure that your presentation is clear, concise, and effective. We also provide personalised coaching sessions, feedback, and support to help you build confidence and improve your public speaking skills.
  • What are the advantages of SpeakSpark over large language schools?
We believe that the small size of our company allows us to be more attentive to the specific needs of our students and to offer more individualised instruction compared to larger language schools with a high student attrition rate and instructor turnover. We also offer flexibility in scheduling, allowing you to study at your own pace and when it is most convenient for you. By choosing SpeakSpark, you get the best of both worlds: quality education and personalised attention. Plus, our prices are more affordable than many of the larger language schools, making it easier to fit English studies into your budget.
  • What kind of teaching approach do you use?
At SpeakSpark, we use a variety of teaching methods, with a primary focus on developing speaking skills, improving fluency, and building confidence in communication. Additionally, we incorporate task-based learning to improve contextual language skills and use the direct method to immerse students in the language environment. We also use elements of the total physical response method, not only with beginners, which reinforces vocabulary and grammar through sensory engagement. We believe that these methods create a learning environment that effectively develops students' language skills.
  • How are your English instructors different from other online schools?
SpeakSpark instructors stand out from other online schools because of their experience, expertise, and passion for teaching English as a second language. They use a communicative and student-centered approach to teaching to keep students motivated and interested. Whether you are looking to improve your conversational skills or prepare for an exam, our instructors are equipped to help you achieve your goals.
  • What qualifications and experience do your English instructors have?
All SpeakSpark instructors are certified educators with a bachelor's degree in education, English, linguistics, or a related field, or a certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language (ESL), such as CELTA issued by the University of Cambridge Examination Board, and Trinity CertTESOL from Trinity College London. All of them have at least five years of experience teaching English to foreigners.
  • Are your English instructors native speakers?
All our instructors are either native speakers or have a level of English proficiency equal to that of native speakers, so you can be confident in the quality of education. Some instructors are also equally fluent in two languages and can provide you with additional language assistance.
  • Is it better to learn English with a native speaker or someone who speaks my mother tongue?
We believe that both approaches have their advantages. Learning English with a native speaker can help you improve your pronunciation, vocabulary, overall fluency, and become more confident in its spontaneous use. You will also gain a better understanding of the culture and how people use the language in real-life situations. On the other hand, learning with someone who speaks your native language can help you overcome specific language difficulties and understand complex grammar rules that may be difficult to grasp when learning from native speakers. This is especially important if they struggle to explain them. Ultimately, the choice depends on your personal preferences and learning style. Whether you prefer a native speaker, someone who speaks your native language, or a bilingual teacher, we have a suitable option for you.
  • What language do your instructors use in class?
Our instructors mainly use British English in their classes. We understand that learning a new language with a teacher who doesn't know the student's first language can be stressful, especially for those taking their first steps in English. Therefore, we create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere in our classes. However, for beginner Russian-speaking students who need emotional support in mastering the basics of English, we can offer classes with a teacher who speaks Russian.
  • Can I request a particular English instructor, the one that was recommended to me by my friends?
Yes, absolutely! You simply need to indicate the name of the English instructor you would like to study with when you fill out the registration form on our website. We will do our best to ensure that you get the instructor you have requested. However, please keep in mind that he/she may not always be available due to other commitments.
  • Can I take a break from my studies without losing my instructor?
We understand that sometimes students need to take a break; however, we cannot guarantee that your instructor will have available time in their schedule when you decide to return to classes. It's better for you to discuss these matters directly with them in advance. Additionally, the length of the break is important, as it would be unreasonable to expect the instructor to reserve your class time indefinitely.
  • How can I reward my English instructor?
If you feel that your instructor has gone above and beyond, there are several ways to show your appreciation. Firstly, you can leave a positive review on our website or social media pages, highlighting your instructor's strengths and the progress you've made with their help. Not only will this boost your instructor's morale, but it will also help other potential students make an informed decision when choosing an instructor. Secondly, you can recommend SpeakSpark to your colleagues, friends, and family. Word-of-mouth referrals are incredibly valuable to our business.
  • Are there any open teaching positions at SpeakSpark?
Thank you for considering SpeakSpark for your teaching path. While our Careers page is the best place to check for updates on vacancies, we are always on the lookout for talented freelance English instructors. Please send your resume and cover letter directly to speakspark.freelancers@job4u.com or via the form on the vacancies page of our website.
  • Does SpeakSpark have its own proprietary learning platform?
No, we believe that language learning should be adapted to the individual needs and goals of each student. Based on our experience working with e-learning platforms that offer pre-prepared lessons, we have found that a one-size-fits-all approach does not meet the expectations of students who truly want to improve their language skills. Firstly, these platforms may not be tailored to the specific needs and learning styles of individual learners. This means that some may struggle with the pace or content of the lessons, while others may find them too easy or repetitive. Secondly, proprietary platforms may lack the flexibility in updating content in a timely manner. This can lead to outdated or irrelevant material, which can hinder students' progress and motivation. Lastly, proprietary platforms restrict access to external resources and materials, which negatively impacts students who need additional practice or alternative learning methods.
  • What video conferencing software do you use?
We use Google Meet for online English classes. It is a great platform for interactive and engaging sessions with our students. However, we can accommodate requests for other video conferencing tools such as Zoom and Skype if, for instance, your workplace network has certain restrictions in place.
  • What are the advantages of using Google Meet?
By choosing to use Google Meet for our online English classes, we are able to provide our students with an easy-to-use platform that they are already familiar with. Google Meet is available on a wide range of devices, including smartphones and tablets, making it easy for our students to log in wherever they are. It is also a reliable platform that offers high-quality video and audio, ensuring that our students can enjoy classes without any technical issues. Last but not least, Google Meet is a free tool that does not require any subscription fees, which allows us to offer affordable classes to our students. This way we are able to focus on what matters most - providing high-quality English lessons - rather than worrying about the technology behind it.
  • Do I need to set up a Google Meet account for online classes?
No, having a Google account is not mandatory. However, it offers several benefits. For instance, it grants access to various Google services such as Gmail, Google Drive, Google Meet, Google Calendar, and more. If you don't have a Google account yet, you can easily create one for free with just a few simple steps. Should you require technical support, we're here to assist you.
  • What study materials will I need for my course?
SpeakSpark provides all the necessary course materials for our clients. In addition to the digital textbook, you will be given study materials before, during, and after class. Exactly which textbooks, online resources, and other materials will be used depends on the level and focus of your study. If a specific textbook, workbook or reference materials are used, you will be told at the beginning of the course so you can get them in advance if you prefer the paper form.
  • What kind of materials do you use for online classes?
We use a variety of materials that correspond to the students' level, their language needs, and interests. In our arsenal, we have textbooks, authentic online resources such as news articles, videos, audio clips, and much more. We also offer the opportunity for real-life conversation practice with native speakers. Additionally, we encourage our students to bring their own materials to class, as we believe that personalised learning is key to achieving language proficiency.
  • What multimedia tools do you use?
We understand the importance of engaging and interactive learning. That's why we incorporate videos and podcasts into our online English learning curriculum. Our videos cover a wide range of topics, from everyday conversation to business English and technology. By watching these materials, our students can improve their listening skills, as well as expand their vocabulary and grammar knowledge. We also offer podcasts that feature native English speakers who discuss a range of interesting topics, from current events to popular culture. By listening to these podcasts, students can improve their comprehension skills and become more comfortable with natural English speech patterns.
  • Do you use virtual whiteboards in your online classes?
Yes, we do. To help students visualise the lesson material and stay engaged throughout the class, our instructors use the Jamboard in Google Meet. It allows them to illustrate complex grammar and vocabulary concepts, write notes, and highlight important points during class.
  • Can I request for a particular textbook to be used in class?
Yes, absolutely! Our instructors will be happy to accommodate your request and tailor the lessons to meet your needs and preferences. Just let us know the title and edition of the textbook you would like to use, and we will make sure to include it in your lesson plan. The same goes for workbooks, articles, videos, or any other resources.
  • Do you offer supervision for self-paced English learning?
At SpeakSpark, we mainly offer live online sessions with expert instructors. However, if you prefer to learn independently, SpeakSpark has you covered. Our experienced English instructors are available to provide guidance and feedback for self-paced English learning. To learn more, please contact us directly.
  • Why are your course fees so affordable compared to other language schools?
At SpeakSpark, we believe that learning a new language shouldn't be a luxury, but a necessity. That's why we strive to keep our fees as low as possible, while still providing high-quality English instruction. One of the ways we keep our fees low is by operating solely online, which eliminates overhead costs like maintaining a physical campus, rent, utilities, employing a large administrative staff. Additionally, we have instructors from around the world who work remotely, allowing us to keep our staffing costs lower than traditional brick-and-mortar schools. Furthermore, we believe in the power of technology to enhance the learning experience, which allows us to offer a dynamic and interactive curriculum without the need for expensive textbooks or classroom materials. Finally, we have eliminated unnecessary expenses such as marketing and advertising costs, which allows us to pass on the savings to our students. At SpeakSpark, we are committed to making English language education accessible and affordable to everyone.
  • Why doesn't SpeakSpark offer a free trial class or consultation like other online English schools?
We are aware that many online schools offer free trial classes or consultations as a marketing strategy to attract potential students, but we choose to invest our resources differently. We believe that our low course fees are already a great value for our students. We want to keep our prices affordable for everyone, and offering a free trial class or consultation would ultimately increase our operating costs and course fees. We believe that this is a more honest and transparent way of doing business, and we strive to provide the best "price-quality" ratio for our students.
  • How much does a General English/ English for professionals class cost?
The price varies with the level of the student and the type of English being studied. The pricing bands are Beginner - Intermediate (A1-B1) - €20 per class; Upper Intermediate - Advanced (B2 - C1) - €18 per class; Proficiency (C2) - €16 per class.
  • Are there any additional fees or charges I should be aware of?
No, we value our customers' trust; so all fees are disclosed upfront. You only pay for the classes you take. We do not charge any registration or enrolment fees. All our materials are available online for free, and we offer continuous assessment as a complimentary service to all of our students. You also do not need to pay extra for a certificate of completion at SpeakSpark. We aim to provide excellent service at a reasonable price.
  • Why do your higher CEFR level classes cost less?
We believe in rewarding our clients for their loyalty and commitment to learning. That's why we offer a sliding fee scale, i.e. a 10% discount when transitioning from the elementary to intermediate level, and an additional 10% discount when progressing to the advanced level. This way, you can save on language course fees while continuing to improve your skills and knowledge.
  • How much is a consultation?
The consultation fee is a fixed €10 for 30 minutes. There is no additional charge to the client, even if the consultant requires more time. More detailed information on how consultations usually proceed can be found here.

The classes must be paid for prior to their commencement. However, exceptions can be made. Classes can be paid for in packages of 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 20, or 50 classes at a time.
  • What should I do if I cannot attend a paid class?
We understand that life can be unpredictable, and sometimes you may not be able to make a class. In such cases, please contact SpeakSpark via messenger or your teacher directly at least 12 hours before the start of the class so that we can offer your spot to someone else and help you reschedule for a convenient time.
  • Will I be charged a late fee if I’m late for a class?
No, but we kindly ask that you inform us in advance if you know that you will be late for a class, so that we can ensure that you get the most out of your time with your instructor. If you are more than 15 minutes late without prior notice, your instructor may not be able to accommodate you and you will need to reschedule for another time.
  • Can I cancel a class at no cost?
Students may miss one class without notice every two weeks and reschedule it without incurring a penalty. However, it is preferable to notify the instructor 12 hours in advance. If, after missing the first class a subsequent class is missed in the same two-week period or not rescheduled with timely notice, its full cost will be deducted from the student's balance.

However, for a more seamless and enjoyable experience, it's recommended to have speeds of 20 Mbps and 10 Mbps, respectively. It's a good idea to test your internet speed before starting your classes.
  • What happens if my internet connection doesn’t work during the live online lesson?
