English Freelance Instructors Needed for One-on-One Online Sessions

Job Role:
As an online freelancer at SpeakSpark, you will provide English instruction to students worldwide.
You will be responsible for

Job Requirements:

A minimum of a CELTA or TESOL certificate.

5 years of teaching experience and at least 1 year of adult teaching experience is preferred.

English proficiency and excellent speaking and writing communication skills.

Fluency in other languages is desirable.

Experience in fields outside of ESL such as finance, law, engineering, healthcare, IT, etc. is a definite plus.

Editing and/or proofreading experience is an advantage.

Strong commitment to student development.

Open-mindedness and willingness to learn innovative teaching methods.

Reliable internet connection and a quiet environment suitable for online teaching.

We are a small team of passionate TESL enthusiasts whose mission is to help learners improve their communication skills in English. We are committed to providing quality education, developing new and innovative ways to help our students succeed, and making a positive impact on their lives. We are currently looking to expand and reach more people who are eager to learn and improve their English speaking abilities.
How we create a personalised plan
Our process starts with a comprehensive assessment of the student's current level of English proficiency. We determine their specific goals and objectives and take into consideration their interests and hobbies to create engaging and relevant lessons. We identify the student's learning style, i.e. visual, auditory, or kinesthetic. We then use a variety of resources to create a customised curriculum.
What English programmes we teach
We offer a variety of programmes, i.e. General English, Academic English, Corporate English, English for professionals, Exam Preparation, and Teacher Training. All of our online courses are in a one-on-one format and range from beginner to advanced level. We also offer crash courses designed to improve students' English proficiency quickly and effectively, with a focus on conversational skills and practical language use.
What video conferencing software we use
We use Google Meet as our primary video conferencing tool. It is secure, reliable, and user-friendly, and offers a variety of features. With Google Meet, we share screens, use virtual whiteboards, and record sessions for later review. Plus, it integrates seamlessly with other Google tools, such as Google Drive and Google Classroom, making it easy for our instructors to share materials and track student progress.
Why we don’t use a proprietary platform
Overall, while proprietary e-learning platforms may offer convenience and structure, they lack flexibility and customisation necessary for effective language learning. Every student has unique strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles, this is why a one-size-fits-all approach simply doesn't work. In our experience, students find pre-prepared lessons to be repetitive or unengaging, which negatively impacts their motivation to learn.
How we review teaching at SpeakSpark
At SpeakSpark, we take quality assurance very seriously. All of our instructors must pass a rigorous review process, which includes a detailed background check and an evaluation of their teaching skills. We also regularly survey our students to ensure that our instructors are providing the best possible learning experience and meeting our high standards of personalised language instruction.
What approach to learning English we use
SpeakSpark's Conversation-Driven Language Learning has proven to be extremely effective. Instead of focusing on memorising grammar rules and vocabulary lists, our programmes emphasise real-life interactions. By providing students with a supportive environment to practice their language skills, we help them overcome the fear and anxiety of speaking a new language and communicate with ease in any situation.
What professional development we offer
We offer a comprehensive range of courses, workshops, and webinars to ensure that our instructors are always up to date on the latest teaching methods and strategies and have valuable insights into the world of online teaching. Our instructors can also take advantage of our resources library, which includes lesson plans and other materials to help them deliver quality instruction to their students.
